Dietary diversification and changes in daily food are happening rapidly among the project beneficiary families.
Nutrition education through our IEC material, (see our poster) and household counselling by the Village Nutrition Volunteers are spreading knowledge in families about consumption and benefits of locally grown vegetables and fruits, milk, greens etc.
Prior to the start of the project, the beneficiaries’ routine meal consisted of rice, jawari roti and dhal.
After regular counselling by the Village Nutrition Volunteers (VNVs), now their meals consist of rice, dhal, greens, jawar roti, chapatti, locally available vegetables and fruits, eggs, milk and milk products.
Unannounced visits to some houses of landless agriculture labourers at meal time reveal that the families are enjoying their diversified diets and are feeling much healthier.
