An Orientation Workshop for Faculty of Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapura and the University of Mysore who are introducing the Module on Food/Nutrition Security and Public Policy as a multi-disciplinary course in January, 2018, was held on 8th January, 2018 at Conference Hall, Department of Rural Development and Panchayath Raj.
Professor S.A. Kazi, Dr Sharanabasavaraj, Mr Sanjeevkumar Y. Yaliballi, Ms Savita Yallappa, Ms Pratibhavati, Ms Bhagyashree C. Patil and Mr Mahesh B. Annigeri form Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapura attended to the Workshop.
Dr Y.S. Siddegowda and Mr Srinivasa D. from University of Mysore attended the Workshop.
Smt. Veena S. Rao, Advisor, KCNM made a comprehensive presentation on the objectives and aims of the chapters comprising the ‘Module on Food/Nutrition Security and Public Policy’.
Mr Jabbar Baig, Chief Operating Officer, Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society (KSRLPS), Bangalore showed a great interest in the Module and shared his views with Participants.
Mount Carmel College, Bangalore has already started teaching the Module as a multi-disciplinary course, from July 2017 and completed the course with the first batch of students in the academic year, 2017-18. Ms Mary Regi, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Mount Carmel College, shared her experience and knowledge on introducing the Module in Mount Carmel College, the teaching structure, and the enthusiastic feedback by the first batch students.
Dr Neetu Sharma, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore provided valuable insights regarding the curriculum and proposed that a platform be created for the participating universities to share their experience and resources. We are very grateful that Dr Neetu Sharma agreed to lead this initiative.
